Happy Birthday Dr. King

This song was inspired by my Dr. King assemblies in Westbury, NY.  Each year we had a dedication to his life and what he stood for. I wanted to create a song for the kids to sing and to teach about his life.

Guitar/Bass/Vocal- Annie Allauzen

Drums/Percussion:  Zak Fisher

Dr. Martin Luther King was a special man

He said that when we fight we never use our hands

He wanted peace and harmony throughout the land.

Dr. Martin Luther King said we all are friends.

He said it doesn’t matter the color of your skin, or the color of your eyes. We’re still the same inside.

Chorus:  Happy Birthday Dr. King, Happy birthday Dr.King

We got a cake to celebrate, we got a cake to celebrate

Happy Birthday Dr. King, Happy Birthday Dr. King,

Light up the candles, blow them out

We’ll make your dream come true

Dr. Martin Luther King went to church on Sundays

He preached to everybody all his thoughts and prayers

He said that equality should mean we’re treated the same

Chorus: Happy Birthday Dr. King, Happy birthday Dr. King

We got a cake to celebrate, we got a cake to celebrate

Happy Birthday Dr. King, Happy Birthday Dr. King,

Light up the candles, blow them out

We’ll make your dream come true

We’ll make your dream come true

We’ll make your dream come true
